Beginnings of Peace for the New Jeremiah of "Peace, Pastors, Priests,
Prophets, and People", or the 5P's of New Jeremiah:

I.  Peace and Optimism are twins, and the dictionary definitions of
Optimism are:
1..a disposition or tendency to look on the more favorable side of events
or conditions and to expect the most favorable outcome.
2. the belief that good ultimately predominates over evil in the world.
3. the belief that goodness pervades reality.
4. the doctrine that the existing world is the best ofall possible worlds.

II.  Peace, Not the Time for Peace In Jeremiah.
THERE IS NO PEACE, NOT THE TIME
{Research and Notes from Jeremiah}

Gist:  A fresh look at Jeremiah on PEACE and PROPHETS, more specifically false peace
and optimism and false prophets.

Peace in Jeremiah

1. Immediate destruction was promised from God, there was no need for optimism.  There
is a time for every thing under the sun, and this was the time to mourn and be both
pessimistic and realistic.

12
And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will
stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.
13
For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to
covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
14
They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying,
Peace,
peace
; when  there is no peace.
15
Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all
ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the
time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

2. Why does God guarantee His own people immediate destruction, alias “my hand on the
inhabitants of the land...”  (6:12)  Three reasons are listed.
(1) All the way from the least in the nation to the greatest in the nation, they are all given
over to covetousness.  In our terms, you have to say that they are wrapped up in material
things, what money can buy, and how to achieve success by what they dream and what
they want.  {All the prophets of the day were wrapped up in positive dreams which ignored
the impending calamities.}
(2) The prophets and priests are dealing falsely in that they are not doing their jobs
correctly.
a.  They are obviously healing some hurt of the people but only slightly.  One might call it
bare min to keep earning their salary, position, and remain popular with the people with
words of comfort.
                          b.  The message that only comforts and heals slightly is the message of
Peace when it is a time and circumstance under God when THERE IS NO PEACE!
3.  The people remained unashamed and without guilt for their acts of abominations,
primarily of violation of the 10 commandments and idolatry, the temple message of
Jeremiah and chapter 7.

In a way the book of Jeremiah is introduced right here centering around PEACE and
PROPHETS.  Granted that this was not stressed in the three levels of Bible study on
Jeremiah previously as all of us hate to be careful of those with positive and optimistic
messages for the immediate future.

1. Those who choice a positive outlook or a superficial one that applies the right Scripture
to the wrong time are like Jeremiah when God first started dealing with him about the
upcoming destruction--”God had promised and promises Peace”, Jeremiah 4:10, the first
mention of peace in Jeremiah.

4:10
Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem,
saying,  Ye shall have
peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul.

Jeremiah's words are stronger than that!  God, with respect though for it is “Lord God”,
you have greatly deceived this people.  This is sort of like the words that would come out
of the atheists and sceptics today except more applied to religion than to the Bible.  Many
Christians almost think that they today in their narrow and small scope of the total Bible
message, often by choice. Thinking in their own little brains that God still promises peace
at any time and any place, and they fail to consider the signs of the times.  Peace would be
a good message at the right time, but not now!

2.  If your preferred message heals the realistic hurt and hurts of the people, then you are
popular and optimistic preachers of peace are hurting the people even more than you are
helping them even when you are able to disguise the hurt from the healing.  By the way,
did you note that peace is mentioned three times here as if one of the popular preachers
was chosing the key and dynamic words to shout out with a smile while the real gist is
hidden, and those who want a certain message can hear it no matter what all the words
are.  Of all the words in the verse, followers of the popular can take away healing, healing
of hurt, my people, daughter, all pleasant words, and peace; and never get the real and
realistic message.

6:14
They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying,
Peace,
peace
; when there is no peace.

3. Jeremiah 8:15 must be understood in the context of the Jeremiah 8 chapter.

15
We looked for
peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble!

Even before we get into Jeremiah 8, you can begin to see both how “PEACE” is used in
Jeremiah and how it is abused in messages today, from the religious and secular world.
Peace here means:  (1) good times, time of health, and absence of trouble.  Just the very
matters some positive popular preachers of prosperity tell you to look forward to today
with matters of self-improvement; and you know who the most popular ones of the
popular are, the two Js, _Joel and Jimmy.

4. Peace in peaceable of 9:8.  More like civility and kindness.
5. Land of peace in 12:5.
6. No flesh have peace in 12:12.
7. What the prophets were saying about peace in 14:13.

13
Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword,
neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured
peace in this place.

   a.  You definitely will not see the sword of war, very similar to those who are talking
today, more the social prophets of the future.
   b.  You shall not, more than will not, have famine; just the opposite of guranted famine in
Revelation as the specifics of the guaranteed destruction is spelled out item by item.
c. Once again you see some content of positive peace in Jeremiah, it is a lack of war and
famine.

8. Jeremiah 14:19
9.      “           16:5     some of God's
peace is internal like lovingkindess and mercy

5
For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor
bemoan them: for I have taken away my
peace from this people, saith the LORD, even
lovingkindness and mercies.

10. In Jeremiah 23:17 PEACE and Prophets come together--

17
They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have
peace; and
they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall
come upon you.

NOTE:  The peace verse here is best understood in the total context of Jeremiah 23, and
what God thought of all the Prophets then in Judah and Jerusalem except the Prophet
Jeremiah.

     a.  In verse 1-8 it is the pastors in the land that are under attack, and we conclude that
the subject continues as such only as a attack by God on the prophets.

     b.  Jeremiah 9-16.

“9
Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a
drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the LORD, and
because of the words of his holiness.
10
For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant
places ofthe wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right.
11
For both prophet and priest {this clarifies the pastors of Jeremiah 1-8 as these prophets
and priests, those called and chosen to be messengers for the kingdom of God} are
profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD.
12
Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be
driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation,
saith the LORD.
13
And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my
people Israel to err.
14
I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and
walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his
wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as
Gomorrah.
15
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them
with
wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is
profaneness gone forth into all the land.
16
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy
unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the
mouth of the LORD.

NOTE:  The effects for bad in the propheying or preaching from these pastors and
prophets:  (1) make the people vain, or worthless in the sight of God.  They speak out of
their own heart.

c. Jeremiah 23:17-26.
17
They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have
peace; and
they say
unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon
you.
18
For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word?
who hath
marked his word, and heard it?
19
Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall
fall
grievously upon the head of the wicked.
20
The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed
the
thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.
21
22
I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they
prophesied.
But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then
they should
have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.
23
24
Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off?
Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill
heaven
and earth? saith the LORD.
25
I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have
dreamed, I have
dreamed.
26
How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are
prophets of the
deceit of their own heart;

d. 23:27-35.
27
Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every
man to his
neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.
28
The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him
speak my
word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.
29
30
Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in
pieces?
Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every
one from
his neighbour.
31
32
Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He
saith.
Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them,
and
cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor
commanded them:
therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.
33
And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the
burden of the
LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the
LORD.
34
And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the
LORD, I
will even punish that man and his house.
35
Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the
LORD
answered? and, What hath the LORD spoken?

          e.  Jeremiah 23:36-40
36
And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his
burden;
for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God.
37
Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered thee? and, What hath
the
LORD spoken?
38
But since ye say, The burden of the LORD; therefore thus saith the LORD; Because ye say
this
word, The burden of the LORD, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The
burden of the
LORD;
39
Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I
gave
you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence:
40
And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not
be
forgotten.

S
ubject:  what does all this history of a failure of peace, pastors, and prophets have to do
with us?  Something very similar is going to happen to the whole earth--

“28
And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thine hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto
them,
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ye shall certainly drink.
29
For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly
unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants
of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts.
30
Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD
shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar
upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the
inhabitants of the earth.
31
A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the
nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the
LORD.
32
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great
whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
33
And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the
other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall
be dung upon the ground.
34
Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the flock:
for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall
like a pleasant vessel.
35
And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape.”

11. This in Jeremiah 28 is Jeremiah talking to the major Prophet Hananiah, the priests, and
all the people that were in the Temple.

8
Jeremiah 28
The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied both against
many
countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.
9
The prophet which prophesieth of
peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to
pass, then
shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him.

12. Jeremiah (29:7)  talking to those in captivity to seek the
peace of the city that they are in.

And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and
pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.

13. Jeremiah 29:10-14.  The thoughts, plans, God has for restoration of His people after 70
years.
With more understanding of what is peace in the mind and heart of God--

10
For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit
you, and
perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of
peace, and
not of evil,
to give you an expected end.
12
13
14
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will
gather you
from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and
I will bring
you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

14. Jeremiah 30:5 about the latter days of the last days.
5
For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of
peace.

15.  Jer 33:6  more descriptive on peace--
6
Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the
abundance of
peace and truth.

16. Jer 34:5  King Zedekiah will die in peace.
5
But thou shalt die in
peace: and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings which
were before
thee, so shall they burn odours for thee; and they will lament thee, saying, Ah lord! for I
have
pronounced the word, saith the LORD.

NOTE:  now occurences are less--

17. Jer 43:12  about King Nebuchazzar--
12
And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and
carry them away captives: and he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd
putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in
peace.

PEACE IN JEREMIAH IS ENDED.

Fall in Jeremiah

1. connected with perpetual backsliding--
8:4
Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; Shall they fall, and not arise?
shall he turn away, and not return?
5
Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold
fast deceit, they refuse to return.

Jeremiah 8 is a description from God Himself on the condition of the people and on what
both they should be saying and what they will say moments before destruction.
Any of this sound familiar?

Jeremiah 8:3-
And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil
family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts.
4
Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; Shall they fall, and not arise?
shall he turn away, and not return?
5
Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold
fast deceit, they refuse to return.
6
I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness,
saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the
battle.
7
Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and
theswallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the
LORD.
8
How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made
he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain.
9
The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word
of the
LORD; and what wisdom is in them?
10
Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them:
for every
one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even
unto the
priest every one dealeth falsely.
11
For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying,
Peace, peace;
when
there is no
peace.
12
Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all
ashamed,
neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their
visitation
they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.
13
I will surely consume them, saith the LORD: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs
on the fig
tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from
them.
14
Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let
us be
silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to
drink, because
we have sinned against the LORD.
15
We looked for
peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble!

III  Prophet in Jeremiah.

1. Jer 1:5  Jeremiah called
2. Jer 2:8  follies of priests, pastors, and prophets
3. Jer 2:26-30  prophets etc not ashamed and what they are doing wrong
26
As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their
kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets, Saying to a stock, Thou art my
father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have
turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say,
Arise, and
save us.
28
But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in
the time
of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.
29
30
Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD.
In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword hath
devoured
your prophets (4), like a destroying lion.

6. Jer 5:13
7. Jer 5:31
8. Jer 6:13

10.  Jer 8:1 bones scattered
11. Jer 8:10 deal falsely
12.   Jer 13:13  roll call of those made drunk
13.   Jer 14:13  the dogmatic and blantant falsehoods of the Prophets

13
Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword,
neither
shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.
There is a proper message from God's prophets and other messengers, those
like housholders who are instructed in the kingdom of God, the message is not
always the same, there are those who ride the same message no matter what
the season is.  It is wrong in optimism and preaching to get the proper season
wrong as to get the message wrong.  In fact, the message is wrong and only
slightly helpful, no matter how popular, if it is not the right message for the time.
Many popular speakers today in America have developed beyond belief from
those who have gone before them, even if it is ony from Carnegie on “how to win
friends and influence people” and Peale's “Power of Positive Thinking”, to
deliver a positive and optimistic message that provides a little comfort to the
people.  At some periods in time, optimism was called for in America:  early
colonial history when free and cheap land was out there to be pioneered and
tilled; the optimism of winning during the Revolutionary War; and optimism after
the Great Depression, after the Civil War, and after World War II.  However,
these are not the times?

God and God's word have guaranteed destruction of Christianity and the world
in 4 areas:  (1) Falling away without major revival of the body of the church and
churches, away from God, Christ, and the Bible in the majority; (2) a time of final
tribulation that is more physical than persecution as in the time of the great
tribulation of the first centuries; (3) continued battles that lead up to the great
final battle of Armagaddeon, centered on Israel and the warfare between radical
Muslims and Christians; (4) complete destruction of this old earth before creation
of the new with judgment on all.
Preview of coming attractions of Bible on "New
Jeremiah and the 5P's:

Peace was lost for Jerusalem in destruction of the enemy God
sent against them, and while some of the same issues of the 5P's
obviously exist in the United States, and there is some of
calamities chasing chastisement, when it comes to the ultimate
destruction of Jeremiah that is primarily applicable to the final
destruction of the whole earth.  America is in decay, true, as
citizens increasingly replace "In God We Trust" with the DOM of
the deification of Man; however the world is coming to an end so
quickly with the end world battle at Armageddon near Jerusalem
that there will not enough time for the US to take itself all the way to
an equivalent destruction like in Jeremiah.

This is no real consolation for as Peter wrote the whole world is
going to be suddenly destroyed by fire, all the works of the whole
earth will be burned up; and then a new earth will push up through
the egg shell of the old burning earth, a new earth travailing now in
earthquakes, volcanoes, and all kinds of groanings like a woman in
childbirth.  What you need not expect is any more peace in society
and in the world as there will be increasing warfare up into
Armageddon!   And when ISIS attacks Israel, you know the US will
be involved, and in fact the Bible teaches the whole world will be
there!  You will be able to watch it on TV until the power is cut by
total earth destruction!

However, what you can learn from New Jeremiah of the 5P's is
both what Jeremiah says about the follies of Pastors, Priests,
Prophets, and People that can be seen to be duplicated in the U.S.
so you can recognize many messages in churches and from
evangelists as false peace, as coming out of their dreams more
than anywhere; and in the little time left, you can find and secure
more ordained of God messages!  There will not as some false
prophets say today be another great world-wide revival, that kind
of message is a repeat of all the prophets of Jeremiah except
Jeremiah himself; but there can be some changes, some
refreshings from the presence of the LORD, and still a few can be
saved.  That is, right until the Holy Spirit is withdrawn from earth.
