Have You Considered the Real Purpose of Your Pastor?

Now based on the full exhortation, edification, and comfort of Ephesians 4:8-16 we know all the full implications of the nature and the purpose of these "new shepherds" from God promised in Jeremiah 23.

1. The nature of the new shepherds from God through Christ.

"And He Himself gave some to be (1) apostles, some (2) prophets, some (3) evangelists, and some (4) pastors and teachers." (Ephesians 4:11)

NOTE: That the democratic prophets, created as such from the gifts of the Ascended Christ as returned home He sent the Holy Spirit, has been both ignored, perverted, and neglected in New Testament churches past the first century, except on rare ocassions of church history, is not to be blamed on the plan of God which He revealed sketchily in Jeremiah 23 and fulfilled in Ephesians 4:11.

2. The purpose of these new shepherds from God through Christ, the shepherdsof apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.

(1). The Work of the Ministry. To the church of the total body of Christ, and written in heaven only, has been committed the Ministry, "for the equipping {or training} of the saints for the work of ministry" (Ephesians 4:12).

NOTE: These are "saints" that are to be equipped. If you can not take the implications in your church of being called a saint by the New Testament; then either get your life in order so that there is more righteousness and holiness habitually, and in spite of any past sins for which you should have already asked forgiveness, or get out of a church of Jesus Christ, since you have to be one of the "bad", very bad figs of Jeremiah 24 instead of one of the good figs.

(2). Edification of the total body of Christ. "for the edifying of the body of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12b).

You see then, really how much edification and comfort was in just that one promise of God in Jeremiah 23, the promise for a whole new batch of shepherds that would really properly care under the leadership of Christ for the people of God!

(3). For Unity of the Faith with a common knowledge of God the Father and God the Son. (Ephesians 4:13a)

(4). To perfected Christians measured by nothing less than the full stature of Christ. (Ephesians 4:13b)

Wow, all that was right there in Jeremiah all along under the new shepherds!
