What Happened to that Part of the Bible about the Falling Away?

The Falling Away of II Thessalonians and the Bible

It is Real!

Please explain to me why you are not preaching and teaching the Bible on the Falling Away?  What is so hard to understand about:

1.  II Thessalonians 2:3.

“Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition...”

Surely you preach and teach on the Second Coming of Christ; well, why not preach on the two historical events of world history that must come immediately before the Second Coming.

Have you been deceived, like Paul wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and according to the teachings of Jesus that he learned after conversion in Saudi Arabia.  It states explicitly that BEFORE the Second Coming you must see in the world news:  (1) THE Falling Away; and (2) a revelation in the news as to who the man of sin, the son of perdition, is.  You can count on it no preachers except a couple even mention the Falling Away, and those few not by name; or have you not stopped to evaluate your own preaching of the Bible and that of others you know?

What in the world are the possibilities for this lack of faithful preaching of the whole counsel of God, the ALL SCRIPTURE of II Timothy 3:16,17.  Let’s see:  (1) Were you, or are you not trained in College and Seminary Bible courses to preach and teach all the major doctrines of the Bible, and the whole Bible; (2) Have you forgotten on the pressures of the ministry to minister on the total Word of God; (3) Do you ignore the book of II Thessalonians, or ignore it as part of the New Testament Canon and Word of God; (4) do you realize that such Bible messages as on death, taxes, and the Falling Away are not popular and do not promote numbers in attendance and membership in your church.

Granted that when you read the history of God’s original people, Israel, in the Old Testament, you find many “falling aways” like in Jeremiah, not specifically called by Paul as the Falling Away in II Thessalonians and described in detail in the book of Hebrews.

2.  Hebrews 4:11.

“Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.”  (Hebrews 4:11)

And right here I think we have a clue to why you are slighting your calling and responsibility as a pastor and preacher:  the total context of these chapters and the rest of Hebrews is that the many cautions and warnings of Hebrews is that even as it happened to almost all of God’s people of the first of God’s people, so it could also happen to most church members in most churches today in the United States; and further that we, like the people of Israel right out of rescue from bondage in Egypt, thought that all the preaching and teaching and right living from God was to “them”, not us.  For example, you do hear today from evangelists and other preachers, not so good on Bible exegesis, that the TODAY in the same context Scriptures of Hebrews refer to the unchurched and lost, not to them.  NOT SO!  These verses are more to Christians and church members than to the lost.  In other words, you as a Christian and a church member, like the original people of God, can and will fall away from the “faith once for all delivered to the saints”; and you as a church leader with them!

Are you deceived by the numbers of people that come to hear your preaching and teaching?  Surely your congregation, although large, and built in many cases on the Gospel of Prosperity promise to the congregation while many perish and suffer daily with the guilt complex that they don’t have enough faith to be prosperous or healthy?  {Shame on you, the wrong you do, Joel, does not make the news; is not considered when your fame is mentioned and recognized on TV; and your wealth from the best-sellers which just increases your popularity with the world; and there are also many others that are being “heaped up” by itching ears church members as the forbidden lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is promoted by church leadership like the world uses them for personal gain and status. Your fame and fortune is coming at a terrible toll on God's innocent sheep!}

3.  Matthew 24:12 correlated with II Thessalonians 2:7.

(1).  From Jesus in Matthew 24:12.

“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.”  (Matthew 24:12)

Have you not correlated this clear teaching of Jesus about eschatology with the sin and lawlessness that abounds near the end of II Thessalonians 2:7, in the context of which you see that sin and lawlessness will become a rising tide that floods the whole world, including the United States, and flows right into churches where the love of Christ has rapidly declined and unrighteousness and lack of real effectiveness in righteous prayer has overwhelmed those who are called by the name of Christ and God!

(2).  From the Apostle Paul who learned well from Christ in Arabia.

“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.”  (II Thessalonians 2:7)

That brings up a related question as to why you are not preaching the Falling Away, and that is what effect will it have, or has already had, in your ministry and that of your church when the Holy Spirit is withdrawn from the earth.  {I hope you are not among the foolish Bible expositors who superficially claim that this withdrawal of the Holy Spirit from earth is a limited to only that Spirit in Christians as they are raptured.}  For example, how much effect would it have on all this so-called faith healing and speaking in tongues of the charismatic movement as the Holy Spirit is already withdrawn, or is already withdrawn?

Well, I don’t know any other preachers and churches that are preaching about the Falling Away, or even teaching it in the Sunday School classes?  And don’t you see that you are again appealing to the fact that millions of Frenchmen, or the world, or the large number of Baptists, and/or your denomination and college or Seminary class, or associations, could not be wrong.  The damning argument of the majority when you know very well that all but a handful of God’s original people fell in the wilderness, and that is the message of Hebrews; apart from the clear teachings of Jesus about the dangers of the majority that go the broad way that leads to destruction.

4.  Or even worse, do you not see or correlate these teachings of Paul and Jesus with the Word of God as found in II Timothy 4:3,4 as obvious teachings of the horrible steps of the Falling Away, where:  (1) it starts with a lack of endurance of sound doctrine among the churches and in the preaching and teaching of church leaders--”the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine”; (2) it continues into the Falling Away, obviously not the same as the up and down perilous times of II Timothy 3:1-8 as church members have a “form of godliness” that denies that anything real related to God has happened in their lives, as churches and church members, even church leaders “heap to themselves teachers with itching ears”--alias, the preaching and teaching of new and unsound doctrine becomes popular, and have you ever seen so much with Osteen and Warren and these ladies of faith resources so much new and popular so-called Bible teaching and preaching, an obvious sign that we are well into the Falling Away, if not near the end of it as Satan is loosed by the withdrawal of the Holy Spirit from earth, a time when an unmistakable visual will be given on the man of sin whether it is really Osama, the president of Iran or Russia or North Korea or Jordan, or the leader of Hisballah or Hamas, etc. {We have a lot of possibilities to consider that want to attack Jerusalem and the “camp of the saints”, including Russia and Putin and all these fighting fundamentalists Muslims that want to destroy Jerusalem.}.

However we have not finished II Timothy 4:3,4 and the development of the Falling Away:  (3) out of their own desires--obviously lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--they “heap up to themselves teachers with itching ears”, and obviously we can not as much blame these popular preachers and teachers that are just giving the people what they want, as one church members in Houston said when faced with the deceptions of Osteen.  {It is just that these fundamentalists preachers have learned, like Satan and the world and business, to use these lusts of flesh, eyes, and pride of life to promote profit and status and wealth.}  (4) They will “turn away from the truth”.  (5) They will turn into fables.  Brother, that is the Falling Away; and that is exactly where we are in our churches today, and in the prolific coming out of the wood work of these termites of popular Bible teachers and preachers.

The only question is why are the so-called conservation, and evangelical, and fundamentalists {I suppose of the Bible} silent on the Falling Away?  Where is the watchman on the tower, the spokesman of God?  Perhaps they are just not on TV or in the larger churches, and therefore we do not hear about them; however I doubt it since every pastor and Bible teacher, every church member knows that these popular preachers must be doing something right or the thousands of the world would not be flocking to their churches and buying their books.  They are the real examples for this period of the Falling Away.  {To read or spread more about  the Falling Way, especially if you are too chicken to do it yourself, look at REPORTS FOR BELIEVING, HIDEOUT FOR BAD HABITS, and “DEN OF THIEVES” from SunGrist_Bible at the websites of,, and .}  It looks to a unbiased outsider that you are fiddling while Rome is burning!
